As reported previously, rock star Pat Benatar will be heading to Genoa City to perform at Neil Winters’ (Kristoff St. John) jazz club, Indigo. Joining the 55-year-old singer on her stint on The Young and the Restless is husband Neil “Spyder” Giraldo, who also serves as her lead guitarist.
According to the Benatar and Giraldo, who both stopped by the soap’s California studios on January 24 to tape two episodes, they aren’t really fans of The Young and the Restless but are very pleased to have guest starred on the “number 1 rated daytime show.”
“It was great. Everyone was terrific. They’re so sweet, helpful and kind,” Benatar told Soap Opera Digest.
“[Everyone’s] really kind. It should always be this easy,” Giraldo added.
Appearing as themselves, Benatar and Giraldo will be seen on the episodes scheduled on Thursday, February 14 and Friday, February 15 as Neil Winters surprises his girlfriend Karen Taylor (Nia Peeples) and introduces her to the longtime couple. They’ll be performing “Every Time I Fall Back,” which first introduced on Benatar’s 1993 album “Gravity’s Rainbow.”
Benatar, on the other hand, will also be helping Karen overcome her stage fright so she can sing in front of a crowd.
While the pair enjoyed their experience on the long-running soap opera and even did a good job with their lines, both are still not keen on pursuing acting.
“No. I have to tell you, it’s a lot harder than it looks,” Benatar said when asked if she’d like to do more acting projects in the future.
Meanwhile, the couple’s stint on The Young and Restless isn’t the only thing fans can look forward to in the near future. Giraldo reveals that he and his wife will be touring in the summer and are currently working on a couple of new projects.
