Cast members Mike Vogel, Colin Ford and Marg Helgenberger, along with executive producer Tim Schlattmann, were in Ballroom 20 at Comic-Con 2015 to tease fans on what to expect going forward on Under the Dome season 3. Will we get answers to any of the mysteries on the show? Who will find a “new appreciation” for Big Jim? Will there be more deaths? And who might become a parent?

Will We Get Answers?
With a show like Under the Dome, viewers end up with more questions than answers. But according to one of the executive producers, those mysteries will be solved: “We are answering all the questions … by the end of the season.” Does this mean season 3 will be its last? There’s bound to still be questions lingering if they want to continue. We don’t know that right now, but Tim Schlattman said, “We threw a lot of stuff at you in the first two hours. By the end of the season, you will know everything.” “I usually don’t use this language … but things are gonna get bananas.”
Speaking of mysteries, “What’s up with the butterflies?” That’s what Schlattmann posed when he came on board for season 2 after watching as a fan during season 1. He wanted answers to questions like these.
Characters and Deaths
Tim Schlattmann, when talking about the show as a whole and discussing TV shows that viewers can really connect with, said, “The good shows resonate with you … [when you’re able to root for the characters].”
Speaking of the characters of Dome, Colin Ford, when talking about his character and finding Barbie as a role model, says, “Joe always looked up to Barbie as a hero and as a mentor. I think he really finds himself” this season. Joe might be taking on a lot of responsibility. “Humanity may rest on [him],” Schlattmann said.
But the bigger question comes from Julie. The executive producer says that she will ending getting “a new appreciation for Big Jim this season.” What could that mean? Considering how polar opposite these two are and what Jim has done in the past, it’ll be interesting to see how that even comes about.
Another big question surrounding this group is, will anybody else die? Ford simply said, “100%,” then Schlattmann continued with, “I think this season, these deaths are really going to matter.” Characters have died before on the show, but to say they’re “really going to matter,” it begs the question, who from the main cast will die?

Marg Helgenberger: A New Face on the Show
When Under the Dome returned for season 2, there was a new but familiar face on the show. Familiar for those of us who remember her from CSI. And new, of course, for the characters of Dome. On hiring Marg, Schlattmann, said, “We needed a great actress, and we got a great actress.” I’d say they did.
Fatherhood?
Mike Vogel expressed his appreciation for co-star Rachelle Lefevre, who was not in attendance at Comic-Con, saying, “We have a special little actor-y bond.”
When it comes to their on-screen characters, though, something might create a big change in their lives … or, rather, someone. “For Barbie, he might want to start thinking about shopping at Toys ‘R’ Us,” teased Schlattmann. While he’s not outright saying it, this is a very strong hint that Barbie might just become a father.
