The kids have chosen, and it turns out all they watch is the Disney Channel and Nickelodeon. The nominees for the 2011 Kids Choice Awards were announced today, and every single one of the TV nominations (outside of reality) comes from a Disney or Nick show.
Big Time Rush, iCarly, Wizards of Waverly Place and The Suite Life on Deck all have multiple nominations, and if you don’t know what any of those are, ask your niece or nephew. I want to be upset, but I actually find this refreshing. Kids are watching kids shows, not things like Gossip Girl.
However, I do have two small issues with the TV nominees. First, I feel terrible for Kevin Jonas. While the Sprouse twins were both nominated for The Suite Life on Deck and Joe and Nick Jonas were nominated for their Disney show, Kevin remains the odd brother out. Maybe kids just don’t like married dudes.
My second complaint is David Henrie from Wizards of Waverly Place being nominated for Best Sidekick. Justin Russo is not a sidekick, he is Alex’s equal. If they wanted a real sidekick from the show, why not Jennifer Stone as Alex’s BFF Harper? If you watch the show, you know what I’m talking about, If not, you probably think I’m crazy for caring this much about category placement at the Kids Choice Awards.
The 24th Annual Kids Choice Awards will be presented on April2 and will be hosted by Jack Black. Here is a full list of the nominees.
