Biography

Margo Martindale trained at Lon Morris College and, later, at the University of Michigan. She began her acting career in local theater, working with the Actors Theatre of Louisville in the 1980s. She made her film debut in the 1990 release Days of Thunder.

Martindale has since appeared in films such as 28 Days, The Hours, Million Dollar Baby, Secretariat and Hannah Montana: The Movie. She also dabbled in television, taking recurring roles in 100 Centre Street and Dexter, as well as a regular role in The Riches.

Martindale’s most acclaimed performance to date is in the FX series Justified, where her portrayal of crime head Mags Bennett earned her an Emmy and a Critics’ Choice Television Award. Earlier she also received a Tony nomination for her Broadway debut in 2004’s Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

She is married to musician Bill Boals, with whom she has a daughter.
