Biography
Russell Hantz, a father of four and an oil executive, first joined Survivor: Samoa in 2009. Vowing to play a “dirtier” version of the game — one that he believes is necessary to win the million dollar prize — he became known as a cunning strategist who wouldn’t hesitate to cut his allies off. In his first season he effectively ran the game, making it until the finale, only to lose to one of his allies, Natalie White.
Hantz returned to the show in 2010, when he was invited to join Survivor’s landmark 20th season, Heroes vs Villains. He was a last-minute substitute for Shane Powers. He employed the same strategy he did before, eventually forging a strong alliance with Parvati Shallow while warding off his rival, Rob Mariano. Like before, he made it all the way to the finale, but failed to get any votes in the final Tribal Council; Sandra Diaz-Twine was eventually announced as the winner.
Hantz returned to Survivor: Redemption Island, his third time in four seasons. He is returning with his Heroes vs Villains rival Mariano.
