Television has been an outlet in 2016 to feature some of the most powerful and drop-dead gorgeous female characters we’ve ever seen. The year has seen some incredibly sexy women on TV, from their jaw-dropping good looks to the swagger with which they carry themselves. With more and more powerful women popping up all the time, the competition among these ladies has been especially stiff in 2016. Let’s take a look back at 10 of the sexiest female characters we’ve gotten to watch on TV this year.

10. Rebecca Bunch, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
Rebecca is one of the craziest characters on TV, in every possible good way. There’s not much you can’t like about this girl. She is unapologetically impulsive and her inner neuroticism is relatable to everyone watching. Probably the sexiest thing about her is how she embraces her body and her crazy.
9. Cookie Lyon, Empire
In addition to just looking fabulous in every scene, one could definitely argue that Cookie is one of the best characters on TV. What is it that makes Cookie so mesmerizing to us? She’s incredibly powerful, takes no crap from anyone and has the ability to seduce anyone in her path. Cookie is a modern-day Medua.
8. Olivia Pope, Scandal
Olivia Pope is one of the most popular women on TV right now, and for so many good reasons. Olivia is exceptionally bright, a quick thinker and has she ever had a bad hair day? Even when faced with some of the most difficult situations in life, she always stands strong. We also can’t help but adore the way she sips wine at the end of a long day.
7. Alex Parrish, Quantico
Is there anything hotter than a beautiful woman who can also kick your ass? Alex Parrish is one tough woman who somehow stays looking flawless, even through intense training. In addition to her amazing looks, Alex breaks the norm of gender dynamics as so often seen in crime dramas. We have a tough, sexy but also very flawed lead woman in Quantico who we can’t get enough of.
6. Alicia Florrick, The Good Wife
After a few pretty loveless seasons, The Good Wife really turned up the heat for Alicia in season 7. The character had always been extremely attractive both inside and out, from those long legs to that powerful mind. However, given her domestic troubles, we didn’t get very many opportunities to explore that side of her. In the final season, we got plenty. Seeing Alicia embrace her sexuality on a whole new level in the show’s final season was a great way to send her off.

5. Paris Geller, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life
Paris’ neurotic nature in the original run of Gilmore Girls was often the most entertaining part of the show. In the Netflix revival, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, the Yale and Harvard alum had evolved into something so much better. She became a powerful, sophisticated and independent woman who was well on her way to taking over the world. Paris is a respected doctor and lawyer raising two kids alone. She still has plenty of crazy left in her, but she’s become so much more. Not to mention how she hasn’t aged a day since Gilmore Girls wrapped nine years ago.
4. Spencer Hastings, Pretty Little Liars
Spencer had a tough year on PLL, but her resilience was astonishing. After so much trauma and heartbreak, this girl had one of the hottest hookup scenes of the year in the elevator of The Radley with someone she barely knew. Aside from just the sex appeal (but let’s be honest, the girl is working those new bangs), Spencer’s witty banter is what turned us on most in season 7 (and it’s also probably what turned on Marco).
3. Daenerys Targaryen, Game of Thrones
The Mother of Dragons seems to get hotter every year. In season 6 of Game of Thrones, Daenerys Targaryen reached her lowest point. She was held captive by the Dothraki after Drogon abandoned her. Just when she was at her weakest, she proved how badass and unfaltering she truly is. We saw her rise from the flames after taking down the Dothraki army in possibly her sexiest moment to date.
2. Joyce Byers, Stranger Things
Joyce Byers is a woman who does not quit. No matter what. She might have been the most hard-working and determined person on TV this year, and we can’t help but be turned on by that. This woman doesn’t care how crazy she looks or what it costs her, she’ll do anything for her family. She braved unknowable danger to bring back her child whom everyone told her was a goner. Plus, even Hopper couldn’t help but notice how easy she was on the eyes.
1. Beth Pearson, This Is Us
Though there are many amazing characters in This Is Us, there’s no one quite like Beth. She is the definition of “wifey material.” This woman supports and looks out for her husband in ways he doesn’t even realize. She is always there for Randall and doesn’t let him forget that he turns her on. Beth Pearson does it all.
