The 66th annual Emmy Awards are almost here, but before the big show on NBC on Monday, August 25, more than 80 awards are handed out at the Creative Arts ceremony.
The event, held Saturday, features many technical categories as well as prominent ones for reality shows, reality hosts, choreography and guest actors. The guest acting categories boast many recognizable names, with three of the ladies from Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black, four hosts from Saturday Night Live and duos from Scandal and House of Cards.
Saturday Night Live picked up five Emmys, the most of any program. Close behind were Game of Thrones, True Detective, Sherlock and Cosmos with four Emmys each. Orange Is the New Black and Deadliest Catch both won three awards.
In the acting categories, Papa Pope, aka Joe Morton, won for his work on Scandal, following in the footsteps of Dan Bucatisnky winning the Drama Guest Actor Emmy last year. Allison Janney, who had four Emmys from The West Wing, won a fifth for Showtime’s Masters of Sex. Uzo Aduba, aka Crazy Eyes, won for Orange Is the New Black while Jimmy Fallon won his second Guest Actor Emmy for hosting SNL, tying his pal, Justin Timberlake.
For Choreography, Tabitha and Napoleon from SYTYCD earned their second Emmy. The Colbert Report picked up its second consecutive win for Writing, beating 8-time winner The Daily Show yet again.
