Switched at Birth, currently on its third season, continues to perform well in ratings, ranking as the number one show in its 8pm Monday time period among females on cable.
“Fans will be clamoring for season four and to know what happens with Daphne and Bay after the season three finale next week,” said network President Tom Ascheim.
The drama series about two teenagers who discovery they were accidentally switched as newborns in the hospital will conclude its third season on Monday, August 17 at 8pm ET/PT on ABC Family.

Twisted, on the other hand, revolved around a 16-year-old teen named Danny who returns to his hometown to reunite with his two female best friends from childhood but later becomes the primary murder suspect when a fellow student is shockingly found dead in her home. The series kicked off with good numbers but only drew 770,00 viewers for its season finale in April. Back then showrunner Chuck Pratt Jr. told TV Line that he’s positive about the show’s future.
“It’s totally up to ABC Family to say ‘Do a cliffhanger’ or ‘Don’t do a cliffhanger.’ Nobody told us to put on the breaks, or wrap it up, so there’s always a chance we’ll come back.”
Unfortunately, a spokesperson told The Wrap that the network is “not moving forward with additional episodes.”
Meanwhile, fans can catch Twisted lead star Avan Jogia as the titular Egyptian king in Spike TV’s upcoming Tut miniseries.
