With just a few days left until the networks announce their fall 2017 schedules, there’s a mad scramble to renew and cancel their current shows before the Upfronts.
If you’re a fan of Designated Survivor, Agents of SHIELD, The Goldbergs, Black-ish and American Housewife, then you’re in luck because ABC has just renewed all five for the 2017-2018 TV season.

Designated Survivor stars Kiefer Sutherland as a low-level Cabinet member who becomes President of the United States after the President and much of the Cabinet is killed in an explosion at the Capitol.
The series debuted back in September to strong ratings and positive reviews, with 10.04 million viewers tuning in to the series premiere. The most recent episode garnered 4.9 million.
Designated Survivor has had quite a bit of behind-the-scenes reshuffling over the course of its first season, with a fourth showrunner being hired for season 2.
While there was no question that the freshman drama would be renewed, it wasn’t a sure thing for Agents of SHIELD, which has suffered greatly in the ratings over time, with the most recent episode bringing in only 2.14 million viewers.

With ratings like that, a lot of other shows probably would have been canceled. But being a part of the Marvel franchise has helped its chances.
Creatively, though, SHIELD has been pretty strong, with season 4 broken up into three arcs: Ghost Rider, LMD and Agents of Hydra.
Finally, on the comedy front, one day after its season 3 finale, Black-ish has been renewed. The Real O’Neals‘ Stacy Traub is coming on board as an executive producer for season 4.
American Housewife is getting a second season, despite mixed reviews. It has a 54% on Rotten Tomatoes. The series started out with 6.61 million viewers, with the most recent episodes below 4.5 million.
As for The Goldbergs, it’s not just coming back for one season; it’s been renewed for seasons 5 and 6. ABC made the same two-season renewal for Modern Family.
