ABC has solidified its 2015 schedule by setting premiere dates for two new murder mystery dramas and scheduling a big, two-hour finale for its hottest freshman drama.
How to Get Away with Murder, which airs its fall finale Thursday, November 20, will return on Thursday, January 29 and run through the end of February. ABC has set a two-hour finale for the freshman drama starring Viola Davis for Thursday, February 26 at 9pm.
Following the end of HTGAWM, the 11-episode limited series American Crime will take over Thursdays at 10pm starting on March 5. The drama, starring Felicity Huffman and Timothy Hutton, centers on the people involved in a racially-heated murder trial. It comes from John Ridley, the Oscar winner screenwriter of 12 Years a Slave.
ABC also has another murder mystery set for the spring, Secrets and Lies. The show, starring Ryan Phillippe and Juliette Lewis, will premiere Sunday, March 1 with a two-hour episode at 9pm before permanently taking over Resurrection‘s current time slot at 9pm. The 10-episode adaptation of an Australia series focuses on a family man (Phillippe) who discovers the dead body of a young boy and becomes the prime suspect in the investigation.
Both American Crime and Secrets and Lies continue the current trend of major networks picking up more limited run series that don’t fit the traditional 22-episode model.
