American actress Brittany Underwood was born on July 6, 1988 in Newark, New Jersey. Born to Ron and Martha Underwood, she has an older sister named Brigitte. Of Colombian descent, she attended Mountain Lakes High School. She later took up biology at Manhattanville University. At an early stage in life, she developed an interest in the performing arts. She appeared in numerous school productions while at Mountain Lakes High, namely The King and I, Guys and Dolls, H.M.S. Pinafore, Oliver, Pirates of Penzance and The Music Man. She wasn’t sure about pursuing acting as a full-time career, but she later booked a role for a commercial for NuStars. This became the signal for her to take up acting at last.
Brittany Underwood later landed a guest role on the series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. She portrayed the character Kelly Brown on the 2005 episode, “Demons.” In the summer of 2006, she took on a role for Shakespeare in the Park’s Mother Courage, acting alongside Meryl Streep. Underwood also auditioned for the role of Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana earlier on. However, she lost it to Miley Cyrus. The Spanish-speaking actress took on a different path, rising to fame as Langston Wilde in the ABC soap opera, One Life to Live. Her character is a loyal friend to Starr Manning, portrayed by Kristen Alderson.
In addition to her accolades in acting, Brittany Underwood also holds the honor of having a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. She has also signed on to play a role in the drama Margaret, starring Anna Paquin, Matt Damon and Mark Ruffalo. Underwood has also been known to frequently hang out with her friends and One Life to Live co-stars during her free time, when she is not busy working or studying. Another appearance she has made was in a Verizon commercial.
