Actor Dominic Keating was born on July 1, 1962 in Leicester, to an Irish father and an English mother. At an early age, he already expressed a passion for the stage when he played a cripple in The Ragged School during his primary school years. He then continued his education at Uppingham School, then graduated from the University College, London. There, he received First Class Honours with Distinction, in History. After a variety of jobs, he finally decided on becoming a professional actor.Much of Dominic Keating’s early success was in theatre, where he worked prior to appearing on film and television. He was known for originating the role of Cosmo in Philip Ridley’s The Pitchfork Disney, and for winning a Mobil Award for his performance as Bryan in Michael Wall’s Amongst Barbarians. Some of his other stage work includes the one-man play The Christian Brothers at King’s Cross, and The Best Years of Your Life at the Man in the Moon Theatre. He was also in the Edinburgh Playhouse Festival production called Screamers, as well as a production of Alfie at the Tiffany Theater.It was in 1989 that Dominic Keating got his television break. He received immense public attention in the UK when he got the part of Tony on the Channel 4 sitcom Desmond’s. At that time, he also received guest roles in The Paradise Club, Casualty, and Inspector Morse. He later took part in episodes of The Bill, Teenage Health Freak, Love Street and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He rose to fame in the United States for his role as Mallos in the short-lived series The Immortal. Despite his numerous projects, he garnered the most popularity from his portrayal of Lieutenant Malcolm Reed on the series Star Trek: Enterprise. His stint on the show ended in 2005, but he worked on other productions such as The Hollywood Sign, Chromiumblue.com, Las Vegas, and four episodes of NBC’s Heroes. In 2007, Keating got cast as Cain on the blockbuster adaptation of Beowulf, and later appeared on series like Prison Break and Holby City.
