Biography
British actor James Murray was born in Manchester on January 22, 1975. His first appearance was as a child, in the 1979 television series Shoestring. His next appearance was in several episodes of the soap opera Coronation Street in 1998, which made him familiar to audiences as an adult. He then made appearances in several television programs, such as Always and Everyone, Peak Practice, Other People’s Children, North Square and Monarch of the Glen. He also made his film debut, with the 1999 film All The King’s Men. This was followed by the film Kevin & Perry Go Large, released in 2000; Phoenix Blue, released in 2001; and Nailing Vienna, released in 2002.
In 2003, he appeared in 20 Things to Do Before You’re 30. The next year, he appeared in 12 episodes of the BBC program Cutting It. It was through this program where he met his current wife Sarah Parish. He also appeared in the television movies Sons & Lovers, Under the Greenwood Tree and Agatha Christie’s Marple: The Sittaford Mystery.
In 2007, he starred in the science fiction series Primeval. He plays the role of Stephen Hart, the lab assistant of Nick Cutter (Douglas Henshall) who is passionate for conserving the environment. His relationship with Cutter became close when he saved his life at one point. He has also acted as the love interest of Abby Maitland (Hannah Spearritt). Often used as the “punching bag” of the series because he is often injured in fight scenes, he was killed off at the end of the second series, which aired in 2008, and despite rumors, he will not be coming back to the third series, which is slated for launch in 2009.
He also filmed the horror film It’s Alive, based on a screenplay by Larry Cohen and Paul Sopocy, and starring Bijou Phillips and Raphael Coleman. Later on, he got the role of Billy Collins in the 2011 CBS drama Chaos.
