Biography
Television personality Josh Temple graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara, leaving with a degree in history. A very athletic person, he was certified by the university’s Athletic Coaching Program, he has toured the globe playing different sports—golfing in Scotland, skydiving in Australia, rafting in Africa—while working in construction.
Temple got his head start in show business in the late 1990s, when he was inspired to train as an actor and comedian after seeing an improve show in San Francisco. He later became a member of Bay Area Theatresports, an acting group in the city, for which he performed in plays and sketch comedies. He later began writing and directing improv shows in schools all over the Bay Area.
Temple got his first taste of television in 2001, when he played a minor role in an episode of the comedy Will & Grace. This was followed by another minor role, this time in an episode of the HBO comedy Curb Your Enthusiasm, which aired in 2002. He made his film debut in 2004, when he starred in the short film Waiting for Michelle. He got his first television hosting stint in 2003, when he was assigned to do Dude Room for TLC. It is a home improvement reality show where the builders give a man a room for himself.
He went on to host the sixth season of Junkyard Wars, which also aired on TLC. It is a competition show, adapted from the British program Scrapheap Challenge, which pits teams against each other in an attempt to build a working machine out of items from a scrapheap. The three-handicap golfer also hosts the golfing show The Clubhouse, which airs in affiliates of the Resort Sports Network. He is set to host another reality show, NBC’s America’s Toughest Jobs.
