Biography
Juliet Aubrey was born on December 17, 1969 in Hampshire, England, although she also has Welsh ancestry. She graduated from Kings College in London, and trained in acting at the Central School of Speech and Drama. She made her television debut in 1992, in the miniseries The Big Battalions; her film debut was in the 1993 Italian film Jon ache visse nella balena.
Aubrey came to the public’s attention with her performance as the lead, Dorothea Brooke, in the 1994 miniseries Middlemarch. Her performance in the adaptation of the novel earned her a BAFTA TV Award and a Broadcasting Press Guild Award, both for Best Actress. She then appeared in the 1995 film Go Now, starring opposite Robert Carlyle. She also appeared in the films Welcome to Sarajevo, released in 1997; the Golden Globe-nominated Still Crazy, released in 1998; Il tempo dell’amore, released in 1999, and Once Seen, released in 2001. Her television credits are also extensive, with performances in television movies such as The Moth, The Unknown Soldier, Bertie and Elizabeth and Death of a Salesman. Aubrey also had a minor role in the 2005 award-winning film The Constant Gardener, which starred Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz. She has also acted for the stage, in productions such as The Tempest, Summerfolk and The Three Sisters.
Aubrey’s more recent television credits include Dalziel and Pascoe, Midsomer Murders, A Class Apart, The Mayor of Casterbridge and City of Vice. She also plays Nick Cutter’s (Douglas Henshall) estranged wife Helen in the science fiction series Primeval. She mysteriously disappeared in a time anomaly, eight years before the beginning of the program, and her character is implied as being responsible for these anomalies affecting Britain—or, at least, understands what causes them. She also had a guest appearance on the BBC crime drama Criminal Justice.
