Biography
Mark Robert Michael Wahlberg was born on June 5th, 1971 in Boston. He is the youngest of nine brothers and sisters. His parents are Alma and Donald Wahlberg and got a divorce when he was 11. They were a poor family and had to leave in a 3 bedroom apartment where they got basically no privacy. Mark dropped out of school when he was 14 [he eventually went back and got his GED] and lived his early life in crime. He had drug and assault problems and was convicted at the age of 16 of assault againist two Vietnamese men after he tried to rob them. He had to spend 50 days in prison where he got buffed up. His older brother Donnie became a member of the 1980’s band, New Kids on the Block. Mark backed out of the band because he didn’t want to have a “squeaky clean” image. Donnie managed to get Mark a recording contract. Because of his dance moves and amazing bod, the promoters signed on with Mark. Then, Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch were born.
His first album, “Music for the People”, was a smash hit. All of the girls loved the rapping “bad boy”. Marky Mark’s next thing was Calvin Klein. He modeled underwear and it was on billboards across the nation. In 1992, he released a book dedicated to his !$#!#. He was all the time getting into fights, one which rumored to be with Madonna and her entourage at a Los Angelos party. Marky Mark was suddenly surrounded by charges of brutality, homophobia and racial hatred. His second album, “You Gotta Believe”, had not been faring well and, after the charges surface, it plummeted off the charts. After getting into a lot of trouble and deciding singing wasn’t for him, he decided to try acting. He was then known simply as Mark Wahlberg. He first appeared in Renaissance Man. Most people didn’t think that the bad boy rapper could act, but boy were they wrong. He gave a mind-blowing performance in Renaissance Man. After that, he gave one incredible perfomance to the next. He blew them away in Basketball Diaries and chilled them in Fear. He hit a high point in Boogie Nights. Everyone was impressed with his abilities and attributes. He had finally put his bad boy rapping days behind him. He is one of the few teen pop stars to survive the drama and come out on top
