Biography
Born on July 26, 1957 in New York City, New York, Nana Visitor is an actress best known for her roles as Kira Nerys on the sci-fi series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Jean Ritter on Wildfire. She made her acting debut during the early part of the 1970s with the Broadway staging of My One and Only. Meanwhile, she made her film debut in the 1977 horror film The Sentinel, while she co-starred in the short-lived 1976 sitcom Ivan The Terrible up until 1976 for her first television role. She had also had roles on three soap operas, Ryan’s Hope, The Doctors, and One Life to Live from 1978 to 1982. Visitor had a very memorable appearance in a first season episode of the hit series MacGyver as Laura Farren. She also had had a guest appearance on the series Night Court as a lost mental patient, the pilot for the Spirit, a recurring role as villainous Dr. Elizabeth Renfro on Dark Angel, and eventually as Jean Ritter on the ABC Family series Wildfire. In 2008, she also guest-starred in an episode of Battle Galactica called “Faith.” However, her most recognizable role yet remains to be as Kira Nerys on the sci-fi series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.The daughter of a ballet teacher and a choreographer, Visitor was married to Nick Miscusi even before her role on Deep Space Nine, resulting in a son named Buster. The two divorced shortly after the sci-fi series began, and soon she married fellow Star Trek star Alexander Siddig in 1997. When she became pregnant in 1996, the pregnancy was incorporated in the storyline. The two divorced in 2001. Finally, she married Matthew Rimmer in 2003.
