Biography
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau studied art the National Theater School in Denmark, and got his start on the Danish theater scene. He made his breakthrough in the 1994 film Nightwatch, and later appeared in several European film productions.
Coster-Waldau transitioned to the American scene with an appearance in the 2001 film Black Hawk Down. He later appeared in features such as Wimbledon, Kingdom of Heaven and Enigma. At the time he also continued appearing in several Danish productions, as well as working behind-the-scenes. In 2008 he took the lead in the short-lived Fox series New Amsterdam; the following year he was part of another Fox project, the pilot-turned-TV movie Virtuality. He is currently part of the HBO series Game of Thrones.
