Biography
Tommy Speer appears as one of the competing fighters in the Spike TV network’s mixed martial arts contest reality series The Ultimate Fighter: Team Hughes vs. Team Serra. He is 22 years old, and has an MMA record of 9-1-0. Speer is a native of Rochester, MN, though he has undergone most of his extensive training in Elgin, MN. During his high school days at Elgin Melville High School located in rural Minnesota, he was a star athlete who participated in various sporting activities. Among these were being an all-state cornerback for the football team, playing basketball for four years straight as a member of the varsity, and reaching the nationals as a wrestler during his senior year.
Upon graduating in 2003, he continued to develop his wrestling skills, and he chose to compete in the mixed martial arts circuit. Speer trained at the Fourth St. Boxing and with Mario Roberto Jiu Jitsu found in Rochester, Minnesota. He began fighting professionally in 2005, with his most recent bouts in the WEC. Speer grew up on a crop and dairy farm in his home of Minnesota, and is no stranger to the needs of the family business as well as hard labor.
