Adam Baldwin is a pretty big deal in the nerdy world of genre television.
The gun-toting Jayne Cobb of Firefly and the equally gun-toting John Casey of Chuck will guest-star in the next episode of Castle, “Headhunters.” Baldwin talked about all of these shows when appearing at the Emerald City Comic-Con in Seattle. Adam Baldwin’s upcoming appearance on the Castle season 4 episode, “Headhunters,” has been eagerly awaited by fans — even before anyone knew about it. Why? The excitement is mostly because the guest role of NYPD Detective Ethan Slaughter marks the first television reunion of Adam Baldwin and Castle star Nathan Fillion since the two appeared together in Firefly.
Firefly reunions are cool.
The relationship of Baldwin’s Slaughter and Fillion’s Castle may seem somewhat similar to their earlier Firefly characters of Jayne and Mal. Check it out below:
This should be a very, very interesting and entertaining episode. “Headhunters” will air on Monday, April 9 at 10pm on ABC.

- When asked about his favorite Chuck episode, Adam Baldwin declared it to be season 4’s “Chuck vs. the Couch Lock.” Why? “I got to wear a Marine dress uniform and lie in a coffin,” Baldwin said. Apparently playing dead in uniform is fun?
- Why did Adam Baldwin feel secure in the role of Casey on Chuck? “Like in Firefly, I made him so lovable, they couldn’t get rid of me.”
- When someone asked how much of the John Casey character on Chuck reflected Baldwin’s personality, the actor replied, “All of him. I can’t do anything else. I can only do Jayne or Casey.” (Yes, he was joking. Probably.)
- On the similarities between Chuck‘s Casey and Firefly‘s Jayne: “They both grunt.”
- In response to a question about the fun had with the Firefly cast, Baldwin shared a nugget on costar Summer Glau (River Tam on Firefly): “Our favorite running joke on Firefly was to blame Summer if anything went wrong.” Apparently, she always apologized.
- What reality TV show does Adam Baldwin like? Oddly, it’s Dance Moms. “You wouldn’t think I would watch that show,” Baldwin said. “I love it!”
