We’ve got more exciting casting news for the new season of Ugly Betty, since another name has been added to the series’ guest-star list. TV Guide reports that Adam Rodriguez of CSI: Miami fame will be heading to New York, hoping to stir some trouble and comedy for the ABC show.
It’s been confirmed that the 34-year-old actor will be playing a former flame of Hilda, the beloved sister of Betty. We reported earlier that Ana Ortiz, who plays the older Suarez sibling, is hoping to have another baby in real life. While this doesn’t really translate into getting a boyfriend on TV, it’s pretty close.
Adam Rodriguez has been cast as the character Bobby, returning into Hilda’s life to cause some old sparks to recur. Well, this is certainly a welcome change in the story. But as we know from Hilda’s unsuccessful bouts with romance, we can’t help but wonder how this will turn out.
“He’s an old high school boyfriend, and [he comes] back into their lives,” Rodriguez told the publication. “A little romance buds, and there’s some drama to go along with it.”
If that’s not enough for Ugly Betty fans, there’s apparently a twist involved. The actor hinted that it’s not just Hilda who might fall into his arms. Maybe the makeover’d Betty has some hidden feelings as well?
“Maybe a little bit of both,” the actor revealed. “We’ll see how it turns out, but it’s going to be a lot of fun and it’s really funny.”
An insider revealed that Adam Rodriguez will be appearing on five episodes of Ugly Betty, but it’s likely he’ll stay for more. This role sounds big, since an extension is in the works.
Even though he’s still wrapping up his CSI: Miami gig, don’t miss Adam Rodriguez on Ugly Betty, premiering on Friday, October 9 at 8pm on ABC.
