After being singled out for teasing on the E! series The Soup, Cameron Mathison breaks his silence regarding a clip on All My Children that seemingly showed his character Ryan Lavery wearing a thong in a scene opposite Rebecca Budig‘s Greenlee Smythe that made the rounds on the internet.
“I am finding this hysterical, I gotta be honest,” the All My Children star told OK! Magazine. “It looks exactly like a thong, but I hate to disappoint, it’s only my T-shirt stuck in my underwear.
In the middle of a dramatic scene in the episode that aired December3, Mathison
stands up and flashes what appears to be the skimpy string of some thong underwear.
On the other hand, Mathison even joked to OK! that there might be a profitable upside to the whole misunderstanding.
“After the hoopla, I am thinking of starting a new line of thongs,” he said.
Mathison joined All My Children in 1998 with one of the most memorable debuts within the soap opera medium. His character Ryan, which he has played from 1998 to 2002, and currently since 2003, was a conman with a rags-to riches-to rags path and has emerged as one of the soap’s high profile players. For his portrayal of the tragic hero, he won the Soap Opera Digest Award for Outstanding Male Newcomer in 1999 and earned Daytime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in 2002 and 2005.
Aside from All My Children, he is also the host of the competitive reality show I Wanna Be a Soap Star since its debut in 2004 on SOAPnet, and the game show Your Place or Mine?, which debuted in June on TLC. He also serves as a special correspondent for the television show Extra, and co-hosted the 35th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards this year.
