The zombie apocalypse shows no signs of ending. AMC has officially renewed its massive hit series The Walking Dead for season 7, which will debut in October 2016. In addition, the Chris Hardwick-hosted aftershow Talking Dead was also renewed.
Currently at the start of season 6, The Walking Dead is still cable’s top show, bringing in more than 13 million viewers per episode, with millions more watching online and on DVR. The season 6 premiere was down a bit from the last two season premieres, but it still looms large over all cable (and almost all network( shows.
The renewal of 16 episodes will bring The Walking Dead‘s grand total to 99 episodes. If AMC then renews it yet again, the season 8 premiere would be the show’s landmark 100th episode.
The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9pm on AMC, followed by Talking Dead.
