These ladies really go far. America’s Next Top Model Cycle 3 winner Eva Marcille first rose to fame as Eva Pigford, the girl with a topnotch portfolio who beat out Yaya Da Costa with her warm personality. Four years later, she’s been a familiar face on television and print ads. Now, Eva is all set to join the cast of the Emmy Award-winning soap opera The Young and the Restless on a permanent basis.
Sources say that America’s Next Top Model Eva Marcille’s work on the soap was so impressive that the writers decided to keep her. What’s more, they’ve been considering creating future storylines for Eva’s character to develop even further. It was just this year that she took part in The Young and the Restless in June, playing the single mother Tyra Hamilton.
In the universe of The Young and the Restless, Tyra has a 12-year-old daughter named Ana (Jamia Simon Nash) and is the aunt of Devon (Bryton). She also has quite an interest in Devon’s dad, Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John), who offered Tyra her first job in Genoa City.
Other than an intriguing name choice for her The Young and the Restless character, Eva Marcille also explained why she now goes by her middle name. She said that she dropped Pigford for Marcille because she “wanted a fresh start.” It appears as though she’s doing well with that, since she has garnered quite a number of credits since her victory on America’s Next Top Model.
Eva Marcille has had several television roles, including guest appearances in Kevin Hill, Smallville, Everybody Hates Chris, Tyler Perry’s House of Payne and The Game. She has been known as the host of BET J’s reality show My Model Looks Better Than Your Model, and BET’s Rip the Runway. Other than her work on plenty of music videos, she has been cast as a regular on FOX’s The Wedding Album. However, it was canceled before it even aired. Since then, she was seen on a first season episode of MTV’s Nick Cannon Presents Wild ‘N’ Out, and has been busy with a variety of films. These are The Walk, Crossover, and I Think I Love My Wife.
