On last night’s episode of America’s Next Top Model, the girls found out that their season would be more than just taking pretty pictures. Tyra and her crew were looking to make some statements this season, starting with the contestants “going green”. They models would be riding around all season in an environmentally sound limo bus, complete with recycled material on the interior.
The girls arrive at the house they’ll be sharing this season and immediately start bonding, with the exception of Heather. Even after learning she has Asperger syndrome, they are not any more understanding or welcoming. They alienate her and call her “weird”. This prompts Heather to call home, crying that she feels like she doesn’t fit in.
Miss J. Alexander pays the models a visit at their home, giving them a lesson in what they should wear at judges panel. To help their wardrobe, they competed in a challenge at Old Navy with Benny Ninja (the posing expert from last season) who gave them ten minutes to run around the store and find an outfit. They would be showing off their outfits later to the judges and someone would be named the winner.
For their photo challenge, the girls would be demonstrating the effects of smoking by taking two pictures. The first would show them as glamorous women, smoking cigarettes. The second would show the after effects from chemotherapy to early aging to stillborn babies. The second photos were disturbing but Mila couldn’t stop laughing during her photo, in which she portrayed the after effects of chemotherapy.
Egos and tempers flare at the shoot between Bianca and Lisa. Bianca doesn’t see Lisa as a threat but she might want to re-think that as Lisa turns out a great performance at the shoot. Bianca also doesn’t feel that an exotic dancer should be named America’s Next Top Model. Back at the house, the girls apologize to each other though Bianca admits it’s more strategy than sincerity.
At judging, Tyra drops a bombshell. The girls will have to go smoke-free the entire season, to be better role models to the young girls who watch the show. Heather shocks all the girls when her name is called first, moving her to the next round. Tyra also calls Chantal, Chantal, Sarah, Jenah, Saleisha, Ambreal, Victoria, and Janet, Kimberly and Bianca, in that order. Mila and Ebony are left in the bottom two and Tyra sends Mila home, feeling she wasn’t really listening to the direction they were trying to give her.
On next week’s America’s Next Top Model, the girls wear straitjackets to help perfect their runway walk. A model wins a trip to Paris as part of a prize. The girls use a rock climbing wall for their photo shoot.
