When the cast of the 10th cycle was released for America’s Next Top Model, fans were shocked to learn that Twiggy would not return as a judge. The CW said that “scheduling conflicts” resulted in her departure from the reality show but there are no hard feelings. “We would like to thank Twiggy for her great contributions to the show,” said Ken Mok, executive producer of the show. “We wish her well in her endeavors and hope to collaborate with her in future cycles of ANTM as well as other projects.” Former supermodel Paulina Porizkova was announced as the new judge. Before the show returns next month, let’s take a few minutes and get to know the newest addition to the ANTM family.
America’s Next Top Model is looking forward to having Porizkova join the team. “We are thrilled to have Paulina as a part of this cycle’s judging panel. The show and participants will benefit a great deal from her vast modeling knowledge and expertise,” Mok said.
Originally from the Czech Republic, Paulina Porizkova was named the model of the 1980s by American Photo magazine. She started modeling at the tender age of 15 and quickly catapulted into superstardom, appearing on the covers of well known fashion magazines such as Vogue, Elle, Cosmopolitan, and Glamour. She was named one of People magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People twice in the 1990s.
Like host Tyra Banks, Porizkova was able to turn her modeling career into an acting career as well. The model has appeared alongside notable actors like Johnny Depp, Tom Selleck, and John Stamos. She is an author, penning the novel, “A Model Summer” in 2007 about a young model pursuing her career in Paris. Fans of Dancing With The Stars may remember Porizkova’s short lived stint on the show in season 4. Unfortunately, she and partner Alec Mazo were voted off first.
Porizkova and the rest of the ANTM gang will return for cycle 10 on Wednesday, February 20th, at 9pm ET.
