Medium will turn into a family affair this month as star Patricia Arquette prepares to take direction from little brother David Arquette. David, who is married to ‘Dirt’ star Courtney Cox, is no stranger to directing having just completed his first feature film ‘The Tripper’, which will be released this fall. This will not be the first time an actor will be directing an episode of Medium this season though, the next star to take the reigns of Medium will come from within the production itself.
Miguel Sandoval, who plays District Attorney Manuel Devalos in Medium, also will direct an episode of the show later this season. Arguable, Sandoval is a better fit for a directoral stint on Medium having served as second unit director for Walker Texas Ranger, as well as having spent some time in various other departments behind the camera.
Medium creator told RecordOnline that “Miguel expressed an interest in stepping behind the camera early in the first season, and ever since he brought it up, I have sensed that this ’new role’ might be a great fit for him.”
On the matter of having to take orders from little brother David, Medium star Patricia Arquette was more than amiable, saying “I was always a bossy little girl and being David’s older sister I’ve bossed him around quite a bit. Now that he’ll be directing me it will be payback time, I think it will be really interesting being directed by David because he knows me so well and I feel so safe with him. I think I’ll be able to go to some of my darkest places.”
Medium has struggled since ABC’s hit show LOST invaded its time slot at the beginning of February, dropping from double to single digits and surrendering the island mystery a large portion of its demo wins. NBC hopes upcoming guest stars and behind the scenes switch ups like this can bring some attention back to the show.
