When it comes to sci-fi/fantasy TV shows, adding a Firefly cast member is the ultimate sign of awesomeness. And that’s just what the CW’s Arrow is doing with news that Firefly‘s Summer Glau will join the cast in a recurring role for season 2.
Glau will play Isabel Rochev, a deadly and beautiful Vice President of Acquisitions for Stellmoor International, a conglomerate interested in taking control of Queen Industries. As such, she will make it her mission to take down Oliver Queen and take over his family business.
In the comics, the character is a Russian whose village was visited by Robert Queen when she was a child, and he inspired her to dream big. She also develops a bit of an unhealthy obsession with being “the Queen” of Queen Industries, believing the company to be her destiny.
Glau is one of the most recognizable and beloved stars of fantasy/sci-fi television. Besides her breakout role as River Tam on Joss Whedon’s Firefly, she has also had recurring or major roles on The 4400, Dollhouse, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Alphas and The Cape. She has also played herself on The Big Bang Theory.
Does Glau’s arrival make you even more excited for Arrow season 2? How does she stack up compared to Oliver’s season 1 rival, John Barrowman’s Malcolm Merlyn?
Arrow season 2 premieres Wednesday, October 9 at 8pm on the CW.
