If you were an Arrow fan who was incredibly disappointed with the way that the show broke up Oliver and Felicity, a fix might be incoming. In a recent interview with TVLine Arrow co-showrunner Marc Guggenheim explained that when Arrow season 5 returns from its current hiatus it is going to do a deep dive on the Oliver and Felicity break up with a full episode devoted to the relationship. The episode, titled “Underneath,” will revisit and fully explain Oliver and Felicity’s break-up from season 4.
9 TV Characters Who Just Deserve to Be Happy>>>
Fans first caught whiff an “Olicity”-centric episode when Stephen Amell teased on his Twitter account that in a season 5 episode he would share all his scenes with one other actor, for the first time ever. This likely means the scenes will include flashbacks and present day alike because while Amell has shared the screen with his co-stars for an entire episode with present day scenes it has never carried over for the flashback storyline. (Since Felicity wasn’t in Russia, this likely means that the flashbacks will explore the period after the break-up in season 4.)
Last day on our latest. My first ep EVER where the same actor shares every single one of my scenes with me. Going to be great. 🎯

And by my scenes I mean our scenes. By definition. Super cool episode.

Now it is confirmed that Amell’s constant co-star will be Emily Bett Rickards AKA Felicity in “Underneath.” “Underneath” will be episode 20 of Arrow season 5 and it will air sometime during May Sweeps. “Underneath” will pick up directly after the events of “Dangerous Liasons” which is the episode Arrow returns from hiatus with and that episode is set to pit Felicity (and Helix) against Team Arrow.
Arrow: 4 Reasons Why the Oliver and Felicity Break-Up Is Really Dumb>>>
Marc Guggenheim explained the rationale of diving back into Oliver and Felicity’s break-up more than a year later. “One of the things that we’ve always wanted to do, and I think a lot of the fans have asked for, is basically deal with the consequences of Episode 415 (when) Oliver and Felicity ended their engagement and broke up,” Marc Guggenheim said. “They never really had a full-on discussion or exploration of why that breakup happened. Felicity just sort of reached her breaking point and walked out the door”
“This is definitely an examination of the state of their breakup,” Guggenheim continued, talking about the upcoming episode. “It comes out of the events of 519 (“Dangerous Liaisons”) and, quite frankly, all the other episodes that led up to it. Something happens in 519 that really tees up this conversation.”
Arrow season 5 will return Wednesday, April 26 at 8/7c on The CW. Want more news? Like our Arrow Facebook page!
