If you’ve seen at least one episode of Criminal Minds, you know what showrunner Allen Bernero was talking about when he called the Minds writers “pretty perverted” in an interview with If Magazine. On the last episode, for instance, a poor kid found himself in a staring match with three decapitated (Mexican) heads.

“What we try to do a couple of times a season is not do a serial killer. We do an arsonist or something that’s a little bit different. No, we just try to scare people. Our writers are pretty perverted,” says Bernero, who adds that Criminal Minds always tries to outdo itself in terms of plot.
“It’s like we sit around the room keeping track of who has the highest body count in the room and we try to outdo each other. That’s getting difficult after. Our ninth episode of season five is our hundredth episode.”
Also celebrating a sort of milestone is Minds mainstay Shemar Moore, who recently turned 40.
“Now that I’ve established myself in a drama, I’m plugging away, trying to get the attention of people who do the independent movies and the features,” says Moore, who was on The Young and the Restless for eight years before playing Derek Morgan on Minds since 2005.
In a sort of homage, his character was shown watching the soap after breaking into fellow agent Dr. Reid’s (Matthew Gray Gubler) hotel room in one episode.
The model-actor, single and looking, tells USA Today that he plans to start a family in the next three to five years. “I don’t want to be an old dad. I’m hoping [for a] wife and children, I am a big sucker for kids. I’m a big kid anyway. I’m excited about the idea of being a daddy, but trying to find her is tough out here in La La Land.”
