Last night, we saw Bachelorette Emily Maynard narrow down her final three guys to Arie, Jef and Sean — which, if you’ve been reading Reality Steve’s blog lately, you probably expected, as his initial spoiler post about this season of The Bachelorette accurately laid out the eliminations through last night’s episode.
Today, Steve posted the big spoiler he knows many of us have been waiting for: Which man is Emily engaged to … if any of them? Well, he says he’s got the 100% confirmed answer.
Obviously, stop reading now if you want to be surprised at the finale. The rest of you, meet me after the break:
Here’s the scoop! Says Steve:
“In Curacao, Emily and Jef got engaged.”
YAY!
OK, but hold up: Are they engaged still?
Steve says yes:
“What I do know now is that Emily and Jef left Curacao as an engaged couple and are still engaged today.”
Double yay! But what about Arie and Sean? How did those eliminations play out? The details aren’t so clear:
“Not sure who went home after the overnights (if anyone), not sure who (if anyone) met Ricki, not sure if the final rose ceremony has one, two, or three guys proposing. I just know that Jef definitely proposed in Curacao, she accepted, and they are engaged.”
Steve also shared details about this season’s finale, which will air on a special night — Sunday, July 22 — and will include a live “After the Final Rose” special. So the next three weeks of episodes looks like this. Mark your calendars and check up on those grocery wine specials!
July 9: Overnight Dates (Final 3)
July 16: The “Men Tell All” Special (which tapes this weekend)
July 22: Two hour Bachelorette finale, followed by a live one-hour ATFR
So: Why the live After the Final Rose? One rumor today would have us believe that on the day that Emily and Jef can finally freely express their love … ABC wants to reunite her with her ex Brad Womack. Thankfully, Steve has a couple less insiduous theories about why they’re doing the “live” special (and no, he doesn’t know if Arie and Sean will be involved):
“1) a ratings ploy and they just didn’t want spoilers getting out because the audience in attendance would know what happened
2) Emily and Jef have an announcement to make. Whether it’s a wedding date, a pregnancy announcement, or maybe Emily’s moving to Utah. I don’t know.
I tend to lean towards #1. I think this is just all a ratings ploy to get more people to tune in, it’s something different to go live and have it on a Sunday night a la “Survivor,” and with “Bachelor Pad” premiering the next night, it’s another way for them to promote their other show. If Emily and Jef do have an announcement to make about something regarding their lives, then great, I guess that would be a bonus. But I think you can rule out a live wedding.”
No live wedding?! Allow me to speak for all of us when I say THANK HEAVENS.
So that’s the big Bachelorette news of the day! I mean, it’s probably news, unless it’s wrong. Or unless you’ve been reading those Bachelor and Bachelorette fan forums, which have had Jef as the winner for several weeks now. But even without the inside intel, it’s got to be true, right? Was there ANY DOUBT that Jef would come out #1 after last night’s adorable letter reading?
Sigh. I know it almost never lasts, but damn, I can’t help it. I love TV love.
