The Double-Double isn’t just a delicious foodstuff from In-N-Out Burger. I use the term to describe the somewhat rare phenomenon on Big Brother when an HG is able to win two HoHs and two PoVs in a single season.
In Big Brother 15, McCrae Olson achieved this feat during the second live double eviction episode when he won his second HoH. The night also marked several other notable achievements for the show, and not just because it was the landmark 500th episode.
Here are this week’s fun stats for Big Brother 15.
McCrae’s Double-Double
McCrae has now won two HoHs and two PoVs, giving him the Double-Double. He is the 13th person to ever do it on Big Brother. Janelle Pierzina is the only person to do it twice, and is also the only person to hit the super-rare Quadruple-Quadruple (she won 4 HoHs and 5 PoVs on All-Stars). Season 14’s Frank Eudy is the only other person to hit the Triple-Triple, with three of each. Here’s a look at this list of people McCrae has now joined.
Season 4’s Alison Irwin: 2 HoHs and 2 PoVs
Season 6’s Janelle Pierzina: 2 HoHs and 2 PoVs
Season 7’s Janelle Pierzina: 4 HoHs and 5 PoVs
Season 8’s Daniele Donato: 2 HoHs and 5 PoVs
Season 9’s Ryan Quicksall: 3 HoHs and 2 PoVs
Season 9’s Crazy James Zinkand: 2 HoHs and 3 PoVs
Season 10’s Dan Gheesling: 3 HoHs and 2 PoVs
Season 10’s Jerry MacDonald: 2 HoHs and 2 PoVs
Season 13’s Rachel Reilly: 4 HoHs and 2 PoVs
Season 14’s Ian Terry: 4 HoHs and 2 PoVs
Season 14’s Danielle Murphree: 2 HoHs and 2 PoVs
Season 14’s Shane Meaney: 2 HoHs and 4 PoVs
Season 14’s Frank Eudy: 3 HoHs and 3 PoVs
With two HoHs and two PoVs left, any of the other four HGs in season 15 could all join McCrae on the list.
The Most House-Votes Ever
Andy Herren voted with the majority two more times on the live double eviction, voting out Amanda and Elissa. He has now voted 10 times this season, and every single time he has voted for the person who was evicted. That’s definitely a record, one previously held by season 6 winner Maggie Ausburn, who cast nine votes against people who were evicted.
Andy and McCrae also tied season 6’s Ivette Corredero in terms of the most votes ever cast, with 10. GinaMarie is at 9 while Judd is at 8, with the potential for three more votes.
This achievement is a testament not only to Andy’s ability to stay with the house, but also his ability to avoid nomination. In 12 eviction votes, he has only been nominated once and was HoH one other time.
Judd is the only other HG with a perfect track record of voting with the house this season, doing it eight times. McCrae was at nine house votes, but then voted to save Amanda when she was evicted.
In addition, the vote to evict Elissa was the sixth unanimous vote of the season. That’s second only to season 12, which had seven unanimous votes (something season 15 could tie if the next vote is unanimous). However, due to the size of the cast and Judd returning, this season also has more votes than ever before.
Spencer the Survivor
Spencer Clawson survived his sixth eviction vote and seventh nomination this week, which are both records. Just as impressive is the fact that Elissa Slater was nominated five times this season, something only seven previous HGs can claim. Oddly enough, one of those seven is Elissa’s sister, Rachel Reilly, who was nominated five times in season 13.
10 Vetoes
When Judd Daughtery won the Power of Veto during the live double eviction, he became the 10th different person this season to win the PoV. That’s certainly a record (the previous high was only eight). It was also only the second time all season the PoV was not used, and only the second time that the winner was not a nominee or the HoH.
Right now, David, Nick, Howard, Candice, Helen and GinaMarie are the only HGs this season who have not won a Power of Veto competition, with GM the only one left in the game.
4 Men and a Lady
Despite the women of Big Brother 15 getting off to a good start by evicting David, Nick and Jeremy, the Final 5 features four men and one woman. This is only the third time there’s only been one woman in the Top 5. It happened way back in season 1 and then again in season 12, when Britney was the only woman in the Top 7. It’s even more unusual because women have actually won the majority of the competitions this season, taking eight of the first 12 HoHs.
