The second week of Big Brother 15 has featured some of the most intense, complicated and maddening gameplay I’ve ever seen. Alliances shifted, HGs scrambled, secrets were discovered and if you think you know what’s going to happen on Thursday night, you’re probably wrong.

Based on the live feeds, it seems like Elissa is now staying and Nick is going to be evicted on Thursday night. If you’ve been following the feeds this week, or the show, your jaw probably just dropped.
The turning point is McCrae, who seems to have completely flipped against the Moving Company. Then there’s Jessie, a total airhead who is only on this show to find a boyfriend and who is now taking down a huge alliance because two girls were nice to her and a boy in the house finally paid attention to her. This is my worst nightmare come true.
Here’s how it all went down:
Howard, Spencer, Jeremy, Kaitlin and GinaMarie are definitely voting to evict Elissa, and they’re banking on McCrae, since he’s a part of the Moving Company.
But Helen and the other side has caught on to the fact that Spencer and Howard have flipped, so she went to work ensuring Candice, Andy, Amanda, McCrae and Judd were solid. Elissa and Candice then went to work on Jessie, befriending her and making her feel loved and comforted. Judd has also started a bit of a showmance with Jessie, and together they have brought her into their group.
Elissa even told Jessie that America will now love her because she’s joining the good people, and America likes Elissa and thinks she’s a good person. But Aaryn, Kaitlin, GinaMarie and Jeremy are mean bullies, so Jessie doesn’t want to be associated with them. In other words, she’s making it completely personal while simultaneously pretending that it’s a smart game move. It might be, but it doesn’t matter because Jessie is so clueless when it comes to the game that I’m offended she’s even in the house at all.
This basically puts McCrae in the power position. If he sticks with the Moving Company, the vote is 6-5 to evict Elissa. If he sides with Helen’s team, it’s 6-5 to evict Nick.
At 11pm on Wednesday, McCrae and Amanda were up in the HoH room talking about how they are definitely going to vote to evict Nick. And while there’s a very small chance McCrae is just playing Amanda and that entire side of the house, it seems like he has turned.
McCrae was smiling a mile wide, talking about how all hell is going to break loose after the vote and how people are going to beat his ass. He’s giddy about the thought of it being an amazing TV moment, and unless he’s putting on the greatest acting performance in the history of Big Brother, McCrae has decided that keeping Elissa and using her constant MVP wins to guarantee a path to the jury is the right decision. The only part that gives me pause is that he hasn’t told Amanda about the Moving Company, but maybe he’ll do that at the last minute before the vote.
If this is true, it’s going to be a total fustercluck on Thursday night. Nick is going to be stunned to go, GinaMarie is going to be furious and the other three members of the Moving Company are going to be disappointed that their plans to be the greatest alliance in history just went up in flames. They’re going to blame Amanda and her showmance with McCrae for influencing him against them.
I understand the logic for the decision, but it makes me upset. I like Nick and think he’s actually an impressive player who deserves to be in the house, especially over miserably useless players like Jessie, Kaitlin and more. I also liked the Moving Company and believed it could work, but McCrae is basically on par with Ronnie the Rat from Big Brother 11.
I’m also sickened that Elissa is going to stay and will presumably get MVP next week and the week after and so on. I think she’s a terrible player and her only asset is being Rachel Reilly’s sister, a massively unfair advantage that I still think the producers gave her on purpose to ensure she stays in the house, because for some unknown reason, Big Brother executive producer Allison Grodner thinks Rachel is good for ratings (this season has proven otherwise).
It makes the next few weeks very boring, as well. My biggest problem with the master plan is that it’s so effective, like Nakomis’ Six-Finger Plan from Big Brother 5. It doesn’t matter if someone from the other side of the house wins HoH, as long as Elissa wins MVP, they can nominate someone from the other side and get them out, just like with Nick this week.
In other words, if the MVP twist remains and Elissa keeps getting it, Jeremy, Aaryn, Kaitlin, GinaMarie, Spencer and Howard will get picked off one-by-one and there’s nothing they can do about it. All they can do is win HoH or PoV to stay safe, but it won’t change the fact that every week one of them will be going home.
This is an obvious flaw in the MVP twist and one the HGs have discovered and plan to exploit. After the Six-Finger Plan of Big Brother 5, which evicted Jase, the producers changed the rules two years later so additional players for the Power of Veto competition were chosen by random draw and not by choice of the HoH and nominees. Unfortunately, producers didn’t learn their lesson and are now letting the same situation unfold.
It’s just not fair on every level. It’s not fair to the HGs on the losing end because the MVP completely negates the importance of HoH. It’s not fair to everyone not related to Rachel Reilly because they don’t have family members with 90,000 Twitter followers to campaign for them every week.
I know Big Brother doesn’t have to be fair, but as someone who loves and respects the purity of the game, it makes me sick that the HGs can use an idiotic twist to completely screw over half the house.
But I guess now I have to swallow my pride and learn to accept that the next three or four weeks are going to be unfair (unless the producers change or eliminate the twist) and incredibly boring. I have to accept that Rachel’s sister is going to stick around because that’s what the producers want. I have to accept that Nick, who is clearly a superior player to more than half the house, is getting evicted in week 2. Hopefully next summer will be a second season of All-Stars and he can come back.
Sigh. Congratulations, Brenchel Army. You win. I surrender. I’m sure Elissa will probably be given three Diamond Powers of Veto and a Coup d’Etat so she can win and the show can pretend that the Reilly family dynasty is special. I guess now I just have to root for Helen and hope that Jeremy goes on a Frank-style winning spree until the twist is over to make things a little interesting.
Unless I’m wrong and McCrae is just putting on the greatest performance ever and is trying to make great TV. Maybe I’m wrong and he’s just trying to make live feed viewers think it’s going this way to make an even more shocking live eviction. But I really don’t think that’s the case.
