OK, so now I understand why CBS green-lighted another season of Big Brother: After Dark. Big Brother producer Allison Grodner announced the big twists and rule changes for Big Brother 9 today and, boy, are they shameless. So beautifully, gloriously shameless. The main changes are this: while casting this season of Big Brother, the producers did compatibility matches and found eight couples who CBS believes are soul mates. They will compete as a team, receive veto and HoH as a team, and so on. It’s unclear how long the team aspect will go on throughout the season, but I think it’s safe to assume that at some point, the house guests will revert back to competing as individuals.

The shamelessness goes even further: Grodner says they are going to turn the heat up in the Big Brother house, literally. In past seasons the house has been air-conditioned. Not this year. In hopes that the house guests will be forced to take their clothes off, the house is going to be kept nice and warm.
It’s pretty clear that CBS was upset with the lack of skin and sexual shenanigans on Big Brother 8. They want to ensure that some showmances go down and, at the very least, they get some nudity for Big Brother: After Dark. As for competing in teams, I don’t mind it as long as it doesn’t continue throughout the entire season. It’s going to be interesting to see who is paired with whom, as per Big Brother’s compatibility matches. After some diligent research, here are my predictions for the pairs:
Neil and Joshuah – this was easy. They’re both gay.
Alex and Amanda – both are professionals, both close to their families, and both of their fathers passed away.
Jacob and Natalie – Natalie is a military kid and Jacob is an ex-marine. Both are very religious.
Ryan and Chelsia – the rebels and partiers. Chelsia says she likes older men. Both are sports fans.
Allison and James – both world travelers. They may seem like an odd pair at first, bu the mutual interests line up.
Matt and Jenn – both promiscuous, young and good-looking. Matt describes himself as a Casanova, and he’ll have to be one because apparently Jenn is loyal to her current boyfriend.
Adam and Sheila – the most mature and together man, Adam, will be cougar hunting.
Parker and Sharon – both over-the-top and outspoken personalities.
I feel very confident in the predictions for these pairings. What do you all think?
