While we continuously doubt how much reality is put in reality shows, Bret Michaels asserts that his own Rock of Love series is as real as it can get. Since he has been targeted with rumors that the VH1 dating show is a scam, the Poison frontman decided it was time to clear things up.
Bret Michaels has been defending his choice to keep shooting Rock of Love while living with Kristi Lynn Gibson, his ex-girlfriend and mother of his children. A lot of people have bothered the rockstar with their comments, but he claims that he’s doing it all for the kids.
It’s a well-known fact that Bret continued to share a home with Gibson, even after they split in 2005. The pair dated for 11 years and has two daughters – 8-year old Raine and 3-year old Jorja. During an interview with Blender magazine, Bret decided to address the issue. People may think he’s living a lie with the whole Rock of Love Bus gig, but he assures fans that he’s doing what’s best.
“Everyone says that (the show’s a scam), because of my relationship with Kristi,” he explained. “I would never do the show if we were still together, and she wouldn’t be okay with that. She lives here in Scottsdale, (Arizona) with the kids.”
He kept discussing his situation, hoping that the public would understand. “I have two other places, in Vancouver (Canada), and Los Angeles, and the rest of the time I spend on the road.”
Even though he’s busy looking for a soulmate on Rock of Love Bus, he finds time to stay with his kids. Also, spending a few moments with Kristi can’t be helped because of that. “When I stay here Kristi and I don’t sleep in the same bed. We’re best friends. My parents went through an extremely tough divorce and I vowed I wasn’t gonna put our kids through that.”
