Many of you know that I’m obsessed with Twilight. I’ve seen it nine times. I went to the press screening, I went to the midnight showing, and I’ve kept going ever since. I’ve ready all the books multiple times and I’m über obsessed with Edward Cullen and Robert Pattinson (in nearly equal parts). I’ve written a Twilight review for Twilight fans and my own list of 10 Ways to Make New Moon Awesome. But I’m the only one at BuddyTV who has seen (or read) Twilight. That is just a travesty.
In honor of the Twilight DVD being released at midnight tonight, I decided that I’d do an experiment. I took three of our writers: Meghan Carlson, Debbie Chang and Oscar Dahl and decided that I’d force them to watch Twilight. All three of them bring something different to the table. They all have certain expectations and they all certain preferences when it comes to movies. I knew I had a difficult task ahead of me.
So this is how we went about it: First, we got their initial reactions and thoughts on the film and the story. What they already knew about Twilight, how they felt about Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Catherine Hardwicke, Stephenie Meyer, etc. Then, we sat down to watch the movie together. No theater, no influences, just us and our thoughts. Next, we’ll have another video roundtable discussion on their feelings. What they liked, what they didn’t like, why I’m obsessed, etc.
We challenge you to encourage your friends to watch with you. Get their first impressions then come on over and take a look at our initial impressions in the video below. Then, come back to check up on our live thoughts to see what these first time viewers really thought as they were watching Twilight.
Whatever happens, know, I’ve got your back. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the experiment.
