As summer series start filming their new seasons and returning shows start ramping up to the end of their season, more and more casting news is trickling in lately. Outlander, Fear the Walking Dead and Mr. Robot will all be adding new faces for season 2. In addition Gotham will see the return of a previously thought deceased character. Lastly, FOX’s new ventures The Passion and 24: Legacy have cast important roles.
Fear the Walking Dead Adds a New Face
Deadline reports that Arturo Del Puerto is set join Fear the Walking Dead in a recurring role for season 2. He will play Carlos a guarded man who possesses a spiritual understanding of the world. Since Fear the Walking Dead ended with the characters on boat in the ocean, this casting suggests that the survivors will eventually be back on land.

Outlander Finally Casts Popular Character from the Books
Outlander fans have waited quite a while for this role to be filled and the wait is finally at an end. According to TVGuide, Brianna, the adult daughter of Jaime and Claire has finally been cast. Sophie Skelton, a newcomer of an actress, will play the 20-something character. Brianna is described as “strong-minded and intelligent beyond her years” and she’ll have the mark of her father’s stubbornness.
FOX Live Musical The Passion Casts Important Roles
FOX’s next big live musical, following Grease, has filled two key roles, TVLine reports. Chris Daughtry of American Idol fame will play Judas. Jencarlos Canela, who can be found on the new comedy Telenova, will be playing Jesus Christ. The Passion is an interesting experiment for FOX. As the name suggest the musical will tell the last few hours of Jesus’ life. The story will be told through contemporary music and will be filmed at popular locations in New Orleans. There will be no effort to make New Orleans look like anything from antiquity. Daughtry and Canela join previous cast members Trisha Yearwood as Mary, Latin pop star Prince Royce as the disciple Peter, and Tyler Perry as the host and narrator.
24: Legacy Finds Female Lead
On the heels of the announcement that Corey Hawkins would play the reboot series lead, Miranda Otto has also been cast in 24: Legacy. Deadline reports that Otto will play Rebecca Ingram, the former head of the CTU, who will be struggling to adjust to civilian life. Otto’s role in the series will reunite her with Homeland executive producer, Howard Gordon. Miranda Otto just finished up a season long arc in season 5 of Homeland.

Mr. Robot Gains a Series Regular
The acclaimed summer series, Mr. Robot, will have another actress joining the cast when it returns for season 2. According to TVLine, Grace Gummer is set to join the show as a young FBI field agent. Gummer’s character, who is still unnamed, will be investigating the Evil Corp Hack. It appears she will be a bit of antagonist for the series. She will be using her skills to hunt down fsociety members and try to find answers for the catastrophic cyber-attack that ended season 1.
A Villain Returns on Gotham
Fans might have thought her down and out but Fish Mooney will rise again on Gotham. Fish will apparently swim out of the watery grave that Penguin threw her into in the season 1 finale. It was hinted at the time of her “death” that Fish might return and now it is confirmed. TVLine reports that Jada Pinkett Smith will be back for multiple episode in season 2 of Gotham.’
