Hey, Castle fans! So, if you’re like me (suffering from an incurable case of Obsessive Castle Disorder that is), then you probably find yourself often wondering just what makes Castle so extraordinary.
Why is it that you can’t stop thinking about it? What is it about the show that has now made you look forward to Mondays? Why do you feel as if you’re going insane when, like this week, there is no new episode?
Well, apart from the fact that Castle creator Andrew Marlowe is a genius and show writers such as Will Beall, in particular, are beyond amazing at what they do, I firmly believe that the main factor that makes Castle the best show on television is its cast.
Last week, I had the tremendous honor of meeting Jon Huertas and Tamala Jones, and I honestly cannot say enough good things about these two incredible people. In fact, it seems that there are not enough complimentary adjectives in the English language to accurately describe them.
You might hear a lot about how actors in Hollywood are rude, self-centered or possibly even conceited, but I am overjoyed to report that this is absolutely not the case with the lovely Tamala Jones and Jon Huertas, and in all honesty, you’d be hard-pressed to meet two nicer people.
And so, after having this experience, it got me thinking about the rest of the Castle cast as well. Sure, we love them for what we see them do on-screen every week, but this one-of-a-kind cast deserves just as much credit for what they do off-screen.
The fact is that while Nathan Fillion, Stana Katic, Seamus Dever, Jon Huertas, Tamala Jones and Molly Quinn are all incredibly amazing actors, they are all even more outstanding human beings; and it is this that really endears us all to them.
Take Stana Katic and Seamus Dever, for instance, who are both actively involved in the Alternative Travel Project. As the name suggests, this is a movement that encourages people to find alternative means of travel besides their cars, the goal being to steadily lessen the amount of harmful emissions that are released into the atmosphere.
Since its founding in October 2010, the Alternative Travel Project has continued to gain momentum, and currently, people all over the globe are taking part in it in an effort to better our world for future generations.
If you’d like to learn more about the project, visit the Alternative Travel Project site and check out the video below.
Now, while still on the subject of Stana Katic, she is also very dedicated to her fans, and on the Fan Page of her website, she displays a Fan of the Week in which anyone can send in submissions. In fact, if you’re interested, send your submission to [email protected].
Next up, we have the oh-so-charming Nathan Fillion who co-founded the nonprofit organization Kids Need to Read with author PJ Haarsma in 2007, believing strongly that every child deserves the chance to read good books.
The organization aims to bolster children’s imaginations by getting more books into libraries that are underfunded. If like Nathan Fillion, you find this a worthwhile cause, visit the organization’s website to find out more.
Also, this past weekend, Nathan Fillion, Seamus Dever and Jon Huertas helped to feed the homeless for the nonprofit organization Food on Foot. Based in Los Angeles, the organization is dedicated to providing the local poor and homeless with things such as nutritious meals and clothing.
Moreover, Molly Quinn spent this past Sunday as an emcee for a fundraiser at the Ebell in Los Angeles benefiting the Marlborough Student Charitable Fund which, according to its website, strives to help underprivileged women and girls in Los Angeles. That’s one pretty incredible teenager right there, isn’t it?
Now, if this still is not enough proof for you as to why these people are so amazing, then you should probably know that Jon Huertas served in the United States military for eight years before becoming an actor, and Tamala Jones survived a brain aneurysm at the age of 23 as well as a house fire in 2004. Absolutely unbelievable, right?
What’s more, in addition to working so hard to bring us incredible episodes of Castle each week, both Huertas and Jones take the time to respond to a significant amount of their fans on Twitter, so you can definitely follow them as well as Nathan Fillion, Stana Katic, Seamus Dever and the latest Twitter newcomer, Molly Quinn, to stay up-to-date on all of their latest doings like the ones mentioned in this article.
Oh, and don’t forget to follow the mastermind behind Castle, Andrew Marlowe, and his lovely wife, Terri Miller, for all sorts of Castle-related goodness.
Speaking of Twitter, Tamala Jones tweeted on Sunday that she and the rest of the Castle cast had just finished doing a photo shoot for TV Guide, and although she is not sure when exactly it’s coming out and cannot say too much about it, she did say that it was shot in the name of the fans.
Thus, once again, I find myself in awe of a show and a group of people who are so passionately dedicated to their fans as well as people in general and the overall bettering of our world.
It truly is an absolute honor to watch these incredible people on-screen every week, and for this and for all that they do off of it, Nathan Fillion, Stana Katic, Jon Huertas, Seamus Dever, Tamala Jones and Molly Quinn, I, and the rest of the Castle fan base, sincerely and wholeheartedly thank you.
And now, I would like to leave you with this one final thought. To quote Nathan Fillion in an interview he did with the Portuguese channel AXN, “If you aren’t watching Castle, what are you doing?”
