CBS, a network with such high ratings that even its failing shows often beat the competition, has announced renewals for 18 of its prime-time shows. Which shows will be returning? Which are still in danger? Keep reading to find out.
The Renewed Shows
Blue Bloods, one of Friday night’s rare success stories, received the first renewal news, with word of the Tom Selleck show’s renewal reported early on March 14 by Deadline.com. It was expected that other CBS renewals would follow.
And they did.
CBS has now renewed a total of 18 series for the 2012-2013 TV season. They are:
- 2 Broke Girls
- 48 Hours Mystery
- 60 Minutes
- The Amazing Race
- The Big Bang Theory (renewal previously announced)
- Blue Bloods
- Criminal Minds
- CSI
- The Good Wife
- Hawaii Five-0
- How I Met Your Mother (renewal previously announced)
- The Mentalist
- Mike & Molly
- NCIS
- NCIS: Los Angeles
- Person of Interest
- Survivor (renewal previously announced)
- Undercover Boss
No Word Yet…
This list does, of course, leave a few CBS programs in limbo. Most notably absent from the renewal roster is Two and a Half Men. While the show still boasts impressively high ratings (even by CBS standards), negotiations are currently underway over the ordering of a new seasons.
Two other veteran CBS programs remain on the bubble: CSI: Miami and CSI: New York have had no renewal announcements so far. There is a decent chance that one or both of these aging series could be canceled this spring.
Three series that began in the most recent 2011-2012 television season missed out on renewals as well. Police procedural Unforgettable, medical drama A Gifted Man and comedy Rob will stay on the bubble for now. Each show has decent ratings for their nights and time slots, but they are not successes by the high standards of CBS.
No other networks have announced their 2012-2013 renewals yet.
