Tonight, NBC invites viewers to witness a group of celebrities as they perform some of the most death-defying circus acts on the highly anticipated premiere of Celebrity Circus.
From the producers of NBC’s smash hit game show Deal or No Deal, Celebrity Circus follows the entire journey of the celebrities, from their painstaking rehearsals to their attempt to perform breathtaking stunts in a head-to-head competition in front of a live studio audience. Of course, in order to do specialties like High Wire, Fire Dancing, Hand Balancing, Flying Trapeze, Chinese Poles, Aerial Silks, and the Wheel of Death, the stars will be guided by top experts and have eight weeks to train to perfect their acts.
“This show will draw our favorite celebrities out of their comfort zone and into a stunning and magical circus environment that allows them to showcase their unseen skills,” NBC executive vice president Craig Plestis said. “It’s a fresh concept from our friends at Endemol and is unlike anything else currently in the TV landscape.”
For tonight’s special 90-minute season opener at 9:30pm ET/PT, Celebrity Circus will introduce its first batch of all-star cast who will put their lives on the line as they hit the high wire. These include Antonio Sabato Jr., Italian-American actor who previously appeared on General Hospital and The Bold and the Beautiful, Blu Cantrell, R& B singer-songwriter, Christopher Knight, best known for playing Peter Brady on the TV series The Brady Bunch, Janet Evans, record-breaking American competitive swimmer, Jason “Wee Man” Acuna, one of the stars of MTV’s Jackass, and Rachel Hunter, model turned actress who has appeared on Dancing with the Stars and Britain’s Make Me A Supermodel.
Each week, these stars will be joined on stage by the experts as they boast their multi-dimensional acts. And after each performance, they will face a panel of expert judges from the cirque world, who will candidly assess their performance, while viewers at home will cast their votes for the best acts and determine which of the celebrities is going home.
Celebrity Circus is hosted by The Singing Bee’s Joey Fatone and airs every Wednesday on NBC.
