After selling more than 200 million albums worldwide, Celine Dion is now setting her eyes on the dance floor. The 39-year-old Canadian singer has revealed to TV Guide that she wants to be on Dancing with the Stars not to flaunt her vocals, but to dance her heart out.
Dion, who is a big fan of the ABC’s Emmy-nominated competitive reality series, went backstage of the show on Monday night after pre-tapping two songs for the Dancing with the Stars finale next week. According to TV Guide, one the songs will be her signature ballad, “My Heart Will Go On,” famously known for the movie Titanic. Though her cheerful sways and arm movements already hint on her desire to be on the show, she still candidly expressed her eagerness to compete.
“I hope they invite me again,” Dion told TV Guide. “I want to dance. For me, it’s not about a contest. It’s about having the privilege to share the dancing floor with the most amazing, talented people, and to share music. It’s not about winning. It’s about dancing as many times as possible.”
Though she only had little experience of ballet training as a kid, not nearly enough to make her proficient now, Dion says she’s not kidding. In fact, she has become even more excited as she witnessed six of the Dancing with the Stars‘ professional dancers, including Tony Dovolani, Cheryl Burke, Mark Ballas and Karina Smirnoff, perform in front of her as she sang during the taping, in which she had a difficult time on focusing on her lyrics.
“I was having a hard time singing because I was like, ‘Oh, I want a dress just like that! Oh, I want a flower, too. Oh, my god, I want a body like that. I wish I could dance like that as I sing the song.’ But it’s impossible. It’s one or the other. But I was imagining that the dancers were me,” she said.
