The Lost panel at Comic-Con is always a big deal, which is somewhatsurprising given the relatively small amount of information theyactually give out. Masterminds Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof don’tsay much and they don’t give away any huge secrets, so the trick is toread between the lines.
For instance, during the panel they showed a montage of memorable deadcharacters, ending with Charlie. After it was over, Dominic Monaghanstepped on stage to wave hello. Is this just a coincidence? Afterall, Monaghan was already at Comic-Con because he’s the newest castmember of ABC’s Flash Forward.
Or, if you believe in conspiracy theories, maybe Monaghan is only in Flash Forward so that he can have cover for being at all these events. There are way too many coincidences at this point, and if Monaghan doesn’t appear in some way during the final season of Lost, I will eat my hat.
There is no speculation needed, however, for Elizabeth Mitchell. Despite holding the bomb when it went off, Mitchell WILL be back for next season. So in January, Mitchell will pull double duty for ABC’s sci-fi shows, also starring in V.
But while Cuse and Lindelof said Elizabeth Mitchell was returning, Josh Holloway may have let something slip during the press interviews afterwards. In describing what Sawyer will be like in the final season, Holloway indicated that his character will revert to his bitter, non-lheroic life after the death of Juliet. So in whatever capacity Mitchell returns, it won’t be next to Sawyer.
“Now that he’s lost Juliet, I think the leader/hero thing is gone,” Holloway said. He added that Sawyer is “heart-broken, he’s back to [thinking] the world sucks.”
Cuse and Lindelof also revealed that the final season will be a lot like the first and that they’ve already written the final scene of the series. They were vague on the details, but there were definite allusions to the possibility that the bomb worked and somehow altered the timeline of the series.
The two creators were also joined by four familiar faces on the panel. Josh Holloway, Jorge Garcia, Michael Emerson and Nestor Carbonell all showed up.
