It’s no secret that one of CSI: Miami‘s series regulars, Khandi Alexander, is bound to leave by the end of season 6. While there is no confirmation on how her character Dr. Alexx Woods will depart the forensic canvas, fans can expect a massive storyline to commence with her remaining episodes on the CBS crime drama.
“The season finale is awesome,” Miami cast member Eva LaRue said about what’s coming up for the last few episodes. “It’s going to be an incredible cliffhanger. It’s going to start the next season. All I’ll say is that somebody gets killed, somebody else gets shot and you’re not sure if they’re going to make it. And then one of our other characters leaves, because Khandi leaves. We have a lot going on.

Tonight’s episode of CSI: Miami puts one member of the crime lab in a very difficult situation. “Rock and a Hard Place,” the 19th episode of season 6, focuses on Alexx’s son as he becomes a suspect in a murder case. Although the CSIs attempt to clear his name, saving him entails some dire consequences.
This installment kicks off with what appears to be a jet ski accident. The CSIs finds a man whose skull is cracked open, staining the water blood red. Though it appears that the victim hit his head against one of the bridge’s cement pylons, Horatio (David Caruso) assumes that something else fell from the bridge above and caused his death.
Meanwhile, Alexx is performing the autopsy on the dead man’s body. She looks at the fragments of stone in his skull, which came from the murder weapon. She finds pieces of a rare lavender slate and they seem to be very familiar to her. She speaks to her husband over the phone, asking him where he put the slate they bought to landscape their backyard. He tells her it’s been in their yard since it was delivered, and Alexx’s heart sink as nobody could have stolen it without having access to their yard.
Fearing her son’s possible involvement with the murder case, Alexx calls her son if any of his friends have been into the backyard. Her son tells her that the only person he’s seen in the backyard that day is Horatio. Alexx is stunned as Horatio already knows.
