The highly anticipated return of CSI: New York this September comes with the addition of two new actors. Piercing the world of police procedural drama are Kerr Smith and Bess Wohl, who have both signed on to join the CBS show.
Both actors have graced the CSI programs on at least one occasion. Wohl has appeared on CSI: New York, playing Audrey Davis in the first-season episode called “Til Death Do We Part,” while Smith has guest-starred on CSI: Miami‘s “Game Over” as Matthew Wilton and has appeared on the original CSI series in the episode “Blood Drops” with an unaccredited role.
According to TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello, Smith will be playing Drew Becker, an expert in forged documents. He will also serve as a love interest for the NYPD crime lab’s second-in-command Stella Bonasera (Melina Kanakaredes). On the other hand, there is much ambiguity surrounding his alleged role.
“[He] pretends to be an expert in forged documents,” executive producer Pam Veasey told TV Guide. “He has a mysterious background that we are slowly developing. He’s a love interest who has an ulterior motive.”
Moreover, Wohl will be playing a new lab technician and a good friend of Adam Ross (A.J. Buckley). As of the moment, her character remains unnamed.
Smith was last seen on the FOX short-lived series Justice as Tom Nicholson. He got his break on television on the soap opera As the World Turns and drew attention on the teen series Dawson’s Creek, where he starred as Jack McPhee from 1998 to 2003. His other credits included E-Ring, Charmed, and the film Cruel Intentions 3.
As for Wohl, she was recently featured in two episodes of Shark. In the past, she appeared on Cold Case, Ghost Whisperer and Law & Order.
The fourth season of CSI: New York returns on Wednesday, September 26 at 10pm ET/PT on CBS.
