The CW has just made a lot of fans very, very happy. Today the network officially picked up The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, Gossip Girl and 90210 for next season.
In addition, the CW also ordered an all-star cycle of America’s Next Top Model.
The Vampire Diaries will return for its third season, 90210 for its fourth, Gossip Girl for its fifth and Supernatural for its seventh. The pick-up means that Gossip Girl will hit its 100th episode next season, and also that 90210 will be heading to college, just like the original.
There is still no word on the fates of the CW’s other scripted shows, Nikita, Hellcats and One Tree Hill, though most of the stars of OTH have officially signed on for a ninth season, if it happens.
While the renewals for The Vampire Diaries and Supernatural were expected, Gossip Girl and 90210 are fairly low-rated, even by CW standards, so their pick-ups is a definite vote of confidence for their futures.
