Gossip and drama surface on almost every TV show and Dancing with the Stars is no exception. This season, the controversy ignited when professional dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who was most recently eliminated with celebrity partner contestant Denise Richards, shared his sentiments on some of the contestants of the ABC hit series.
When TV Guide asked Maksim what he thought of fellow co-stars Holly Madison and Melissa Rycroft, he said, “Do I have to answer that? It’s very hard for me because Tony [Dovolani] is my best friend, but if we’re gonna call it what it is, it’s very unfair because Melissa’s a dancer — she was a cheerleader and did ballet. That’s what I would love to end. Holly — I thought she did a good job with no time to prepare. She looks very confident.”
As expected, many are speculating about an ongoing mini Dancing with the Stars feud, especially since Melissa Rycroft appears to be dominating the competition. On her dancing debut, she scored 23 with partner Tony Dovolani, and improved her score the following week as she got a 26 out of 30. On Monday night’s broadcast, she earned a score of 27 out of 30, her highest score yet.
Despite being labeled as the “biggest competition” by fellow contestant Holly Madison, Melissa insists that there’s no backstage drama on Dancing with the Stars.
“Everyone’s main goal is to have fun, have a good time, make friends – and if there is a competition, it’s a friendly competition,” Rycroft told Us Weekly, regarding comments such as the pair cited above. “There’s nobody slashing other people’s costumes backstage!”
While Melissa seems to be enjoying her time in the spotlight, the former bachelorette says she’s returning to Texas after her stint on Dancing with the Stars.
“I’m going back to Dallas” she said. “I don’t know what I’ll do, but I’m going home, for sure!”
