Dancing with the Stars season 19 is bringing us two Tuesday night results shows before returning to its regular Monday-only schedule, so for the second time in a row, someone is being eliminated the night after the big dance.
This week the stars danced to their favorite songs and we saw huge improvements from Betsey Johnson and Antonio Sabato, Jr., a new head of the leaderboard and a NASCAR driver who spun out into pervy territory.
Things went as expected last week, with Lolo Jones being eliminated while Betsey Johnson was also in the bottom. The only slight surprise was Lea Thompson being in jeopardy, but perhaps that was just to rally more support for her. Will this week be as easy to predict?
THE LEADERBOARD
35: Lea Thompson
34: Janel Parrish
33: Bethany Mota
32: Alfonso Ribeiro
31: Antonio Sabato, Jr., Sadie Robertson
30: Jonathan Bennett
28: Randy Couture, Tavis Smiley, Betsey Johnson, Tommy Chong
24: Michael Waltrip
DEFINITELY SAFE
Lea Thompson may have been in jeopardy last week, but she jumped to the top of the leaderboard this week and put everyone on notice. Janel Parrish and Bethany Mota also had good scores (and great partners) which should continue to keep them safe while Alfonso Ribeiro is still at the top, even if he wasn’t as good as week 1.
IN THE MIDDLE
Sadie Robertson may have been down, but she still has a lot of potential and a big fan base to keep her safe. Antonio Sabato, Jr. made a comeback and, if he wasn’t in jeopardy last week, he probably won’t be this week. Jonathan Bennett also has plenty of fans and a solid return while Tommy Chong remains the biggest surprise of the season, so he should be fine even with a mediocre score.
IN JEOPARDY
Betsey Johnson was almost eliminated last week which is the only reason she’s in this category, but I think her huge improvement was enough to keep her around. Tavis Smiley and Randy Couture both dropped in their scores and that could be trouble since neither of them seems to fit the traditional mold of DWTS contestants. Then there’s Michael Waltrip, all alone at the bottom of the leaderboard.
MY PREDICTION
I predict Michael Waltrip and Emma Slater will be eliminated. He’s in last place on the leaderboard and his borderline misogynistic routine to “Girls in Bikinis” won’t win him a lot of votes with the ladies. He was already in jeopardy last week and I think that Sadie hurts him a lot by stealing away most of his votes as I assume they have very similar demographic fan bases. I may be stereotyping, but I assume the cross-section of Duck Dynasty fans and NASCAR fans is higher than Tommy Chong.
Do you think Michael will crash and burn in the second results show? Or will one of the four 28s on the leaderboard be eliminated?
