This morning, ABC announced the celebrities who will compete in the fourth edition of Dancing with the Stars. The hit reality show will return on March 19 and will hope to build off the massive success of previous seasons. Earlier today, on Good Morning America, Jerry Springer returned to live television to announce this season’s cast of “Stars”.
Check out the competitors below:
Laila Ali
Laila is the offspring of the great Muhammad Ali, and is a storied professonal boxer in her own right.
Billy Ray Cyrus
It’s been fifteen years since “Achy Breaky Heart” hit the airwaves. Where have you been, Billy Ray?
Heather Mills
Best known as the ex-wife of Paul McCartney, Mills will also be the first person to compete on Dancing with the Stars with a prosthetic leg.
Clyde Drexler
Clyde “the Glide” Drexler is one of the NBA’s 50 Greatest Players, playing on the Portland Trailblazers and Houston Rockets. Clyde’s the early favorite, in my mind. If you remember how smooth he was on the court, then you know why.
Joey Fatone
Former member of N’Sync. Do you need to know more? Chances are, Joey will be a pretty good dancer as Boy Banders tend to be.
Shandi Finnessey
Won the Miss USA Pageant in 2004.
Leeza Gibbons
A veteran talk show host who used to host a show titled “Leeza”.
Paulina Porizkova
Paulina is a Czechoslovakian-born supermodel from the 80’s. She graced the pages of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition twice in the 80’s. I believe she’s married to Ric Ocasek, of The Cars fame.
Ian Ziering
“Beverly Hills 90210” fans are in heaven right now. Steve Sanders himself, Ziering once sported a blond mullet perm that was , in a word, breathtaking.
Vincent Pastore
Pastore, best known as “Big Pussy” on The Sopranos, should take over the Jerry Springer, comic relief role. Everyone likes Pastore.
Apolo Anton Ohno
A gold medal speed skater, Ohno should be fleet of foot on the dance floor as well.
My initial thoughts are mixed on this cast. I love the inclusion of Drexler, and think that Ohno and Fatone will likely be good dancers as well. However, I don’t know who, on the female side, is going to be all that good. Perhaps the former Miss USA can bring it, but I really can’t envision Leeza Gibbons cutting a rug.
