As with every season of Dancing with the Stars, it seems we have our first injury. According to RumorFix, Bill Nye has injured his knee and was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday for an MRI.
The Science Guy, who has become a fan favorite despite getting the lowest scores from the judges, was rehearsing with partner Tyne Stecklein for next week’s episode. There’s no official word yet on his status, bur anything that warrants being taken to the hospital has to be taken seriously, although it’s early enough in the week to give him plenty of time to hopefully recover.
Nye, who is 57, is the oldest male contestant this season. He received the lowest scores in each of the first two weeks, earning jeers from the three judges but cheers from fans and viewers who were won over by his wacky routines in which he played a mad scientist and Beethoven.
We’ll have to see how the story develops. Will Bill Nye have to withdraw from Dancing with the Stars like so many before him, or is this a mild issue that will be resolved in time for his next dance? On the bright side, maybe Nye will teach us all something about how Magnetic Resonance Imaging works.
Dancing with the Stars airs Mondays at 8pm on ABC.
