Things have gotten real in The Walking Dead season 6. In a shocking turn of events, one of the show’s original 5 stars has (apparently) been killed off in “Thank You.” However, the events of this character’s death has fans speculating; did they really die?

In the third episode of season 6 of The Walking Dead, “Thank You,” Glenn Rhee (played by Steven Yeun) had his intestines ripped out of his body by the walkers. Glenn was the group’s most solid sense of morality and his departure will undoubtedly lead them to make questionable decisions.
As the episode progressed, we saw Nicholas undergoing a series of mental breakdowns which caused him to be of little help when Glenn desperately searched for a building to light on fire in a courageous effort to lure the walkers away from Alexandria. Unfortunately, the walkers got to Glenn.
Or did they?
We already saw that Nicholas was having a series of mental breakdowns. It’s possible that he hallucinated all of the events that took place starting at the dumpster as this was when he began to mentally check out once again. Perhaps neither he nor Glenn met their end.
Here’s another possibility. A popular tactic to escape walkers in The Walking Dead has been covering yourself in their blood to avoid detection. With that in mind, it’s definitely a possibility that Glenn simply hid under Nicholas’ body, which was actually the one being ripped to shreds.

With that in mind, the title of the episode could have multiple meanings that tailor into this theory as well. “Thank you” is what Nicholas said to Glenn in gratitude for the second chance he gave him, but it could also be that Glenn is thanking Nicholas for repaying him (in a morbid way) by using his body as a cover-up (literally) for his own.
Fans of the original comic series which the series is based off of will also note that Glenn doesn’t die in the books. However, [SPOILERS] The Hollywood Reporter says that Glenn is to be executed in the 100th issue of the comic books during the group’s first confrontation with a villain called Negan. They report that casting is underway for this character, who will be introduced during the season six finale. With that in mind, it’s possible that Glenn is in fact alive, even if just for the remainder of the season.
